Asbestos Roof Replacement in the West Midlands

A large number of the older industrial and commercial roofs across the West Midlands were originally sheeted in asbestos cement, and where that material is degraded or being disturbed by other works, it needs to be dealt with properly rather than worked around.

What's included

  • Surveys to confirm the condition and extent of asbestos cement sheeting
  • Removal carried out in line with current asbestos regulations
  • Coordination with licensed asbestos contractors where required
  • Replacement with modern, non-fragile roof sheeting systems
  • Full weatherproofing of the new roof on completion

Asbestos cement sheeting in reasonable condition and left undisturbed doesn't automatically need removing, but once it's degraded, damaged, or has to be worked on or through, the regulatory position changes. We'll be straightforward about which category a roof falls into rather than assuming the answer before a survey.

Where removal is needed, work is planned and carried out in line with current asbestos regulations, with licensed asbestos removal contractors brought in for notifiable work. Once the old sheeting is off, we replace it with a modern, non-fragile roofing system so the new roof doesn't carry the same fall-through risk during future maintenance.

Overcladding

When the old sheets can stay in place

Replacement isn’t the only option for an asbestos cement roof. Where the existing sheets are sound enough to carry it and don’t need to be disturbed, overcladding fixes a new profiled sheet roof over the top on a new support system. The old sheeting is encapsulated rather than removed, and the building gets a weathertight, non-fragile roof without a full strip-out.

Overcladding is one of Profile Cladding’s specialisms. Whether it’s suitable depends on the condition of the existing sheets and the structure beneath them, so the survey comes first, and the work is planned in line with current asbestos regulations and HSE guidance.

How It Works

Getting a roof sorted

  1. Get in touch

Call or send details of the building and the problem you're seeing, and we'll arrange a time to take a look.

  2. Roof survey

We inspect the roof to identify the actual cause of any issue, not just the symptom, and check the overall condition.

  3. Clear quote

You get a written breakdown of what's needed and why, so you can weigh up the options before committing.

  4. Work carried out

Work is planned around your site's operational needs, with the roof left weathertight at the end of each day.

Other services

Industrial Roofing

Large industrial roofs bring their own set of demands: long spans, exposed fixings, rooflights that age faster than the surrounding sheet, and access that has to be planned around a working site.

Commercial Roofing

Commercial roofs cover a wider range of buildings than industrial sheds — offices, retail units, converted warehouses, mixed-use premises — and usually a wider range of roof build-ups too.

Cladding

Cladding does two jobs at once — weatherproofing and appearance — and when it starts to fail, both suffer. We install, repair and overclad industrial and commercial buildings across the West Midlands.
